1. How do I measure for my dog’s collar?
Make sure your dog is standing. Then loop a soft measuring tape or string measure loosely around the portion of the neck where the collar will rest naturally. You should be able to slip two fingers flat in between the tape and the neck. Alternatively, measure his/her existing collar from the clasp to the hole usually used to fasten the collar.
Your order should be based on the exact measurement of the neck. We try hard to center the design of the collar accordingly. All collars will have a minimum of 2” of extra “play” to allow for any minor measurement errors.
2. What is the collar made of?
All collars are genuine leather and glass beads. The Kenyan collars are buffalo hide and the Southwestern collars are cowhide. The Kenyan collars are slightly thicker than the Southwestern designs.
3. What color is the leather?
All Kenyan collars are black leather. You may choose between tan, dark brown, and black for the Southwestern collars.
4. What is the clasp on the collar?
All collars have traditional buckles.
5. How durable is the collar?
Our collars are extremely durable. Every third bead is knotted making it difficult to lose an entire strand. With normal wear and tear, most collars last 10 years or more.
6. Can my dog wear the collar in water?
Yes! But if your dog loves water, we encourage you to order dark brown or black as the tan leather will discolor slightly when worn in water.
7. Are there other patterns/colors available?
Yes! Our artisans are always open to your ideas. If you have a particular pattern in mind or desire a special color scheme, please do not hesitate to call and discuss your ideas.
8. Do the collars ever go on sale?
No. All profits go to supporting both canine rescue efforts and canine cancer research. Discounting the collars would undermine our support for these causes.
9. I want to purchase a collar for a friend, but I don’t know what size/pattern they would like. What do you suggest?
A gift certificate is a wonderful way to show a dog lover how much you value their beloved pet. Gift certificates are redeemable for up to one year from date of purchase. Certificates can be purchased in any denomination from $65 and up.
10. Can I get a refund or exchange if the collar doesn’t fit?
We’re sorry, but all sales are final. No refunds or exchanges are allowed. Since all collars are custom made to fit your dog’s unique style, they may not be readily resold to other clients. Therefore, please take your measurements carefully, as we rely on them to design your dog’s one-of-a-kind collar.
11. I don’t need a collar, but I would like to contribute to these worthy causes. What is the best way to do that?
You are welcome to send a donation directly to The Sundance Collection and we will forward it to the appropriate rescue and/or canine cancer research entity.
